Check out these fierce phrases and share them with your closest pals. With this awesome undercover dating dictionary, you’re bound to have a blast—and up your chances of bagging a dream boy.
The battlefield
When you’re on the prowl for the perfect man, it can feel like war—especially on the bar front. Going home with a guy’s digits (an your dignity) can be a daunting task—one you shouldn’t risk alone—so grab your girlfriends and get out there! (But not before arming yourself with a clear understanding of these terms.)
Wingman. The first things to keep in mind when heading out to the frontlines is never ever leave your wingman (unless you hook up with a hottie). Your wingman is the girl you plan and progress through the night with. She’ll be your eyes and ears when you’re not looking and the person who will carry you home if your ego or your liver is injured in battle. Remember: The two of you are a team out there in the trenches, and if you don’t watch out for each other, no one will.
Scooping. Like all good weekend warriors, wingmen looking for babes in bars need to do some reconnaissance. You and your wingman should play a thorough game of I-spy in shifts. But do it subtly, for that is the art of scope.
Doing laps. These are the circles wingmen make when they walk around the bar looking for their next target. And you thought the only exercise you got at bars was an 8-ounce bicep curl.
Calling him. Girl A and Girl B sit at the bar. Girl A thinks the guy in the blue sweater is cute and expresses this aloud to Girl B. Girl A has just “called him.” He is now permanently off-limits to Girl B. even if he begins chatting with Girl B, she can’t reciprocate unless she wants to sacrifice her female friendship.
Transformers. These are the guys who seem really hot from far away. But up close, they’re kind of heinous.
Prisoner of Love
You made it through the battle and spent a night at the other side’s camp, but what do you have to show for it?War wounds. These are the slight aches, pains, and bruises that come from an exuberant encounter with the opposite sex. Your injuries should not be permanent or require hospitalization but should instead bring a smile to your face. Examples: scratches down your back, bruises on your legs, a rash on your chin from his scruff.
Ceiling fright. This is when you wake up, open your eyes, and think “Oh my god, this is not my ceiling!” (Followed by a look to the left, where you find nothing familiar. And then a look to the right, where you find him.. Vaguely familiar).
Bunk-mates
You have joined forces with the other side and are an item, but how should you classify your studly soldier? Use the terms below to define the different stages of your relationship.
Siamese. When you’ve been seeing a man for more than a week but less than two months and are so attached at the hip that you spend at least five nights a week with him. You run the risk of becoming Siamese. If you’re a girl who dropped all her friends in high school every time she got a boyfriend or you haven’t had a relationship in eight months.
Dungeon love. When your first encounter with a new lover lasts three days straight causing the most intense fairy-tale feelings of love until you leave he house and the realization sets in that you didn’t notice the obvious deal-breakers. Reasons do it anyway: it’s the most lustful experience of your life, and no man will ever be perfect in the real world, so live the fantasy while you can.
Booty call. This kind of rendezvous happens after one of you has already been out for the night. It starts with postmidnight phone calls that make or receive from a place with loud music. It includes brief, often unintelligible yet urgent conversation and ends with “see you in 15 minutes.” Keep in mind: although the two of you are in synch sexually, you’re only an item in the sack. Don’t go on this kind of date looking for a nice conversation.
The recycling bin. Women in the extreme stages of single life start looking for men here—the section of your address book where old boyfriends’ phone numbers lurk—and occasionally you rationalize that it’s okay to date them again. Need to recycle increases when your ex-boyfriend is extremely handsome, exceptionally well-endowed, or rich as hell.
Dishonorably discharged.
Often the best of allies must part as enemies. If you decide he’s not The One, kick him to the curb and save yourself! Only your girlfriends can help you now
Out of the car. When it’s almost over, but not quite, and you’re warming up to the idea of life without him, he’s “out of the car.” Things to remember: all the stuff you haven’t had time to do lately; qualities you never really liked about him. Everything happens for a reason: that seriously cute guy you’ve had your eye on but haven’t been able to do anything about until now.
On the curb. When it’s really over and he’s so far away and waving at his ass sitting’ on the curb, just keep telling yourself: you’ll never make this mistake again; every wrong guy gets you another step closer to the right one; someday he’ll be part of a very funny anecdote you’’ laugh about with your friends.
Womb mode. Occurs immediately after a breakup. Characterized by a compulsion to lie on your couch in a fetal position. Things to avoid: listening to the radio (those love songs are not about you); visiting your old hangouts; the ex himself.
Crying wolf. When you’ve broken up and gotten back together with him so often, your girlfriends refuse to hear about it anymore. You’re either going to have to get out of this relationship all by yourself or make new friends who don’t realize that this is just a game you like to play. Obvious reason to break the cycle is if your friends constantly remind you of two things: 1. if he was worth it in the first place, this cycle never would have started; 2. He’s not the only man who’s good in bed.

a tribute?maybe
i've been loyal to my boyf for 1 year and 10 mos. im quite proud ofthat fact cause, honestly, im the cheating kind. i've never met a guywho is witty and goodlooking (on my standards) at the same time.we've undergone a lot of things together. a mix of both good and bad. i remember the time when we almost broke up because he can't take my sudden mood shifts anymore.i remember the time when i almost broke up with him cause he lacks the discipline thati demand from the people i love. but then, it always ends up in compromise and more regainedeffort coming from the both of us. im much in love with him and im half-scared that when the going gets more tough, a part of us might nurture the idea that it would be best if we bothjust part ways.it's not the mere love-lust of it all. it's also the laughter we shared. that wonderful laughter.he can crack up the corniest joke of all time and i'd end up forcing myself to laugh. i could strike a quip on a normal talk that could make him pinch my cheeks and say "ka cute nimo oi".ryan is one,if not,one of the wittiest person i know. even his friends admit that he can come up themost clever comebacks that can force us to utter a lame reply. he'd rather be crucified than admit that he's jealousor wrong.so,pray, tell me, why would i ever ever find another one when he's all that i could ever need?

why do you have to be a heartbreaker?
last week has been, again, eventful.in a negative way.
aside from the fact that i've been having petty fights with ryan almost every day,i lost my memory card...which contains photos that i haven't uploaded (those were omg-i-absolutely-look-great-photos)good thing my aunt brought her cam..but no offense, my shots are wayyyy better since it was mostly of my face.im full of mself i know, but i just bought a new bikini and i really looked uber great in itand poof! there goes my mem card.
i went into obsessive card-hunt in my room but my efforts were for nil. i wasnt able to find my memory card. im getting the feeling the rats took it but what would they do with it?im willing to contribute one unsharpened eyebrow pencil for them to nibble on rather my memory cardor it would've been ok if they nibble it AFTER I UPLOAD MY GODDAMN PHOTOS. aside from my lost memory cardi was fighting a bout of depression last sunday. hormones overload or underload.and *surprise!
i am thinking of moving out.yes, yours truly (the one who answered the question "do you have any plansto move out of your rent's house?" with a nonchalant "no, why should i?i get to save alot if i stay there")is currently looking for a boarding house. we own a boarding house a walking distance from our hosuebut there's no way im going to stay there. preferably the price would be below 2k.the reason why im moving out is complicated.it may or may not push through but TOO MUCH is just too much.

full batt
and ready to go. taking extra joss 3 times a week with water during work hours is an "i dunno but its hokay" idea.i think i'm getting used to it.. extra joss with excedrin. im feeling kinda woozy right now because i think im fit foran olymphian sport and yet im here nesting. so much for me being an addict. i feel like my eyes are gonna pop out of my sockets. i just had my hair "operated" (relax+hot oil+cellophane)at sunishia, lorraine's recommended salon.by the way, it was an all expenses paid splurge courtesy of my boyfriend. he's so great.the best actually.back to my old straight-hair, i love it nonetheless, it made me appreciate that it is naturally straight(limp) eventough i can go on for days without combing it (cause my bf likes it when i dont comb it, i dunno. uncombed fetish me guess)
holla back later. im on a high.

to the death of my DoTA life
i've played DoTA for quite some time now (2 years to be exact, a very short life compared to my friends who practically quit school just to be very good at it. pathetic, i know), DoTA was with me when USC harassed me with their "it-don't-make-sense" requirements for graduation, hellish oral defense for practicum and only god knows what else.
and now that i'm working, as much as i like to play DoTA (out of habit), i just don't have the time to stop by gecube and play a game or two..
but with the death of my DoTA life comes the birth of TEKKEN 5/6. i am starting to love this game with a passion that could raise your heckles. ive been playing this game for almost 3 weeks at Ayala (months at ryan's ps2) and i could seriously say that i can kick steve's, daryl's and andre's (given the chance) at ayala. not to be hilas, but i've become quite a "thing" to be looked at. believe me, it's not everyday that they get to see a girl playing wearing a smart casual attire.
i totally look out of place there.. but i can quite say differently with the way my hands manipulate those joysticks and buttons.
so again, with the death of my dota life, the REbirth of TEKKEN 5/6 begins..
and the death of my money.

lovely day!
Maybe it's time to laugh again, I heard someone say. I think he is right. It is indeed time to look at life from a perspective other than today's traffic report or the evening news. It is time to give the child within us permission to look at life and laugh again. It is time we realize that life was meant to be enjoyed, not endured. Remember how we once were when we were children? When everything we saw was fun and funny? And every new experience was a great adventure? That nobody could hurt us bad enough to make us want to sulk and mope all day? We'd snap out of it just as quickly as we finished off our fries. That we'd crouch on our knees to peer at a caterpillar in the bush? That an iced hand had every friend's tongue on it, too? Such generous and open hearts we had. Such time for wonder and adventure. Where did that all go now?when did everything get so serious? It's simple. At some point between that age of childhood and right now we lost it, because life has become a race to be responsible adults. I won't argue that because how else can we cope with life if we can't be responsible living it. But who says becoming a responsible adult means a long face and a boringly serious attitude toward life?true those touch times are upon us. The issues we all face are both serious and real. And in the world of reality, not everything is funny so most people would say. Are they saying then that we have no business laughing and enjoying life? And in the course of living a responsible life, we should sacrifice the ability to laugh and junk the gift of joy and look glum because we're adults? I hope they don't teach that in the classrooms or we will be having a planet of zombies. So who about we try it differently this time and put the smile back on our faces? It's time to laugh again. Even the Lord loves a cheerful heart. Let's take back what we have lost. See the world through childlike eyes with a mind always seeking new wonders and adventure, a heart always trusting and believing. Let's learn to enjoy once more a beautiful sunrise, the innocence and laughter of our children, the myriad colors of a rainbow, the pleasures of our friendships, the fun of surprises, and the assuring warmth and love of our families. Elt's get back the ability to seek out the good and to pluck out the hidden pearl of joy sprinkled down the road of our life in this crazy world. Let us once more learn to delight in these simple pleasures and so make ourselves a lovely day each day of our lives from now on.

wow, with a linkie!
so much has happened since the last time i updated this. first off, with the hurricane of finding a job, i finally have one! and it's not in a call center (believe me, that's in a mocking tone). this is where i work:
http://www.aboitizland.com/?_s=3&_ss=212
i had the LAST slot for the 9TH position. so yeah, our department is now full. the pay is great for someone with a single status, the benefits are omg-this-is-too-good-to-be-true.
so i was supposed to process my requirements today, but it was raining and i hate rain so no matter how urgent this papers are, it just has to wait.. for a day. i'll be fully armed with mink coat and hugeass parka tomorrow to protect myself from rain.
cause im fragile like that.
i had my hair curled last thursday. it was supposed to look like Serena of Gossip Girls ( i showed a pic of her sa bayot in the salon) but it ended up like the softer hairdo version of Ana Fegi. i wasnt amused, and alot of my friends aint either.. but ill just have to make do with my hair right now.
i secretly like it eventhough it looks like it has been butchered and mutilated cause it suits my personality..and temperament.
streaming the latest episode of gossip girl right now so i decided to update this blog of mine (a few people have been reading this, yes..and some are true blue stalkers)
imma holla back later...my editor is screaming for an article.

busy busy bee
wednesday (yesterday) was a busy day for me that i just have to jot it down.
after my test at aboitiz, i met up with my girls (ella and eli) at caltex ma.luisa to pass resumes to just about any company we see that's hiring someone from our course (and qualifications). so after we passed at trinity insurance brokers (TEP bldg) we were given an interview asap. its really a small company, cause they are just intermediaries between the clients and the insurance company itself.
after the interview thingy, we went to mandaue to look for the meritz bldg. (ideal approach is there and they were also hiring) again, we passed our resumes and we will have our interview next wednesday. we somehow got lost at mandaue while looking for PHILCOPY since it's located at grand.arcade bldg (i dunno where it is).. well after being threatened by irate drivers (we were jaywalking, well f**k you very muchly too) we finally found the company, we went inside looking effin ugly cause we walked about a kilometer while we were looking for the exact bldg. (cause i kept on saying we are almost at that godforsaken place,we are actually not).
after passing our resume at philcopy, we got tired and went to ayala, luckily, we knew that commonwealth insurance is hiring a marketing staff at their company (located at cebu holdings bldg, right beside city sports), while we were inside the elevator, i saw my ex-carpool driver (driving us was actually his hobby, his wife owns another insurance company in cebu holdings) so we passed our resume there
around 5pm, ryan made apas to us at ayala, we watched the last full show of iron man (like it, not love)... around 11 we went to waterfront (martin nievera's concert, of course we can go in, cause IM THE PRESS (smug)) met up with ryans rents who also went there and ate at abuhan on the wee hours of the morning.
im waiting for aboitiz' holla back and ive got a test for trinity insurance brokers tomorrow. ive got a coffee meeting for crestpoint after lunch and only god knows what. ryans going to bantayan this weekend so ill prolly be in gecube the whole day. nesting and doing only god knows what

for a change
i just took a mind-grueling test at Aboitizland an hour ago. honestly, it was quite hard. imagine an 80-item test consisting of Algebra+Trigonometry. and by the way, that 80 item test excludes the spelling, amptitude, abstract and space patterns detecting..
that really got me thinking..
arrogance aside, im above average (not exactly superficial) in the line of spelling, abstract and space patterns detecting (credit to my work as a writer) but omg, really, MATH TESTS ARE HELL.
positive outlook on that aspect, my mind got the exercise it was asking for... too bad i had to take excedrin after (i swear to god i should really stop taking it, i'm like, hooked and i know my supply ain't gonna last for long).
I really really liked the algebra part. I wish I could take some more tests with those kind of problem
there's only one teeny weeny twist. its the fact that im applying for the customer service assistant part. and for the life of me, i just can't understand why they were giving us some math problems.
(i'm really a math junkie. i just want to give out the blonde aura.. makes things for me a whole lot easier)
so after the test, i went back to my school (didnt miss it, cause im always a walking distance away) and went to my department to get my yearbook picture.
sipata sa akong pictures oi. ill have them scanned and imma post it here. hahaha!

and a lot of...
my blog hasn't been updated for almost a month now cause i jsut came from pampanga (practically in the middle of nowhere) and although I have an internet access 24/7 (thanks to my cousin who purchased the controversial zte broadband wireless thingy). i really planned to post this blog after i get home since i'm getting a strange feeling that one of my bf's stalker is stalking this blog, and if i post something about me being away for the time being, she'd contact my bf for a "casual" meet-up (she's the type of girl who craves any guy's attention) and as much as i trust my badjao, he's guillible (as many boys are) to female manipulations.
anyway,
i stayed for 2 weeks in Pampanga. we, rents and i, have to visit my grandma (mum's mum) cause she had a 2 strokes in jsut amonth and half of her body is paralyzed (that by the way, runs in the family). i miss my ACed room there and all the privileges i have (driver) that i dont really have in cebu.
last weekend was great, we "joyrode" our way from pampanga to manila (wc is almost an hour and a half travel, considering we travelled late at night and the driver broke all the speeding rules{but then again, there ain't no spedding rules here in the phils.}). arriving almost at midnight on a saturday at manila is the peak of my stay. we visited the glorious lights at Roxas blbd, enjoyed a chillaxing picture taking at malate and again, cam whored at gateway,
**updates later. a job appointment awaits.

frog thoughts
og frog There's this expression that goes "You have to kiss a lot of frogs, before you find a prince." Albeit a common practice among girls nowadays, no one would really ever want kiss a frog. Think about it, slimy, slippery, warty-skinned, and just plain weird-looking. I mean who would really want to kiss, stroke or nonetheless sleep with a frog?, except for Ms. Piggy I guess or some mad scientist or biologist (for the sake of science?).
Well seriously, I'm proud that women are usually strong and resilient. We can always get back up and start all over again from a mild to bad break up. But it can be very tiring and daunting to go through the stages of a heartbreak. You cry just about anytime and anywhere; in the shower, bed, office, jeepney (grrrr), bus, movies, your song(s) playing or any love song for that matter or just about anything that reminds you of Mr. Froggy. Not to mention sleepless nights, a few weeks (hopefully not months or years) of emotional eating where you can just eat possibly half a gallon of ice cream and a bag of potato chips in one sitting or the exact opposite, which we girls prefer. Its like time has frozen for you and you alone cannot seem to get anywhere but in the twilight zone of depression and self-pity.
But having to go through all of these makes one a stronger and better person and Mr. Froggy who turned out to be just one of the regular frogs could be the person(s) who'd teach you love and life's valuable lessons which best selling self-help books or your shrink cannot.
I've kissed several frogs over the years, been with a frog in a long-term relationship, short-term, flings, or just plain dating. Here are some of the lessons I have learned from them frogs, only those that I remembered though LOL.
Froggy 1 taught me never to say YES to a suitor in the dark. You will regret it when you see him in broad daylight.
Froggy 2 taught me never to entrust your boyfriend to a girlfriend or never trust your girlfriend(s) ALL the time. Especially if your girlfriend mentions from out of nowhere that she finds your boyfriend cute or she likes guys which have similarities that of your boyfriend. For example, hinting that she likes men with long hair and your boyfriend also has long hair, uh-oh! That could be bad news. Another sign is if she tells you to flirt with your secret crush and she's gonna tell it's okay because it's just a crush. So if your girlfriend shows these symptoms, better watch out and just be extraaaa careful.
Froggy 3 has taught me not to be too much of a user. User-friendly, user-boyfriendly, whatever you call it. In short being an all time MS. BIL-MO-KO. Although, your beau is as rich as Mr. Billy Gates and can buy you a house-on-a-hill, a car, tons of bling-bling, and spend for your trips to the spa or luxurious vacations. HE is neither a BANK or an ATM Machine. Chivalry is good, but guys want girls who know how to take care of themselves. Well, men are supposed to take care of girls but nothing is sexier than a strong and independent women who can kick men's asses anytime. Sings*
All the women who are independent
Throw your hands up at me
All the honeys who makin' money
Throw your hands up at me
Froggies 4, 5, 6, 7, and so on... (lol) taught me that I AM more important than sex, drugs, alcohol or rock and roll and looks can be really deceiving, always are and always will be.
Froggy 8 taught me not to kick your boyfriends ass too much. Yes, guys are attracted to bitchy girls because it can be sexy and naughty at the same time. But it doesn't mean that he is just your puppy and all around full-time waiter, servant, houseboy, aliping-sagigilid, etc., (For God's sake he is your boyfriend!) Well, part-time is okay though *winks*. Give the guy a chance, return the favor every once in a while... Alrighty?
Froggy 9 taught me to be STRONG and to fight back when one should. It's the opposite of the above, never allow your ass to be kicked, uh-uh. Us girls are the only ones who should do the ass-kicking hehe. One has to learn how to say NO and say "enough!" when it is enough. Martyrdom is good only for saints or for those who are aspiring to be one but not when one is in a romantic, platonic, carnal or whatever-you-label-it relationship. In all relationships it's always a give-and-take.
Froggy 10 who FINALLY (*whew!*) turned out to be a PRINCE taught me what true love is. That LOVE is patient, it is kind, it does not envy, or boast. It is not proud, rude or self-seeking. It is not easily angered and keeps no record of wrongs. Love always protects, trusts, always hopes and always perseveres. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. (Corinthians 13 : 4 - 8)
The prince knows that your relationship is not just an emotion that you two share but something that needs hard work and perseverance in order for it to sustain. He also accepts the fact that you both need to grow as a couple and as individuals in the course of your relationship.
When you meet someone who would open your eyes to what true love and will always love you for you who are and who you dream to be... then he is the prince you have been waiting for.
So have fun, kiss a lot of frogs. Laugh, love, cry, experience insomnia, shout, be angry, hate, raise hell, pig-out, learn a lesson or two and use them in the future. For in the ocean of frogs is a prince. Trust me ;)
Well seriously, I'm proud that women are usually strong and resilient.
In all relationships it's always a give-and-take.

not confessions
new year resolutions are totally overrated. they are created by parents or those uber religious organizations who can't get their kids or younger siblings to go to mass.
new year resolutions are hopeless. for some of us anyway. i'm too cynic (perfect) to even think of changing myself. so yeah, i'm a bit conceited.
here and there..
i've been hearing alot of hush~hush about how confusing and irritating men are. irritating, yes, but i don't know about them being confusing at all. maybe men are confused but they are not confusing.
so subterfuge and manipulation are my usual methods. and men, by circumstance, are great targets. they are dense, nubile and easy to ask something from (or of?)

take a hike
there's nothing more to perk me up early in the morning than a very interesting gossip.
i posted a previous blog here regarding the break up of my 2 friends (wherein which i thought that the guy was the one cheating?well, that piece of story came from the girl. when i knew about the guy's side. it was waaay entirely different,so basically, the guy was the one who was cheated on)
anyway, as of today something something, the girl has another bf and the guy,oh well, he's currently dating one of my hottest friends.. when the girl knew about this, she started texting the guy telling that she's never really over him and she wants him back.
it irritated the sh!t outta me. cause the guy's new gf is my very close friend.
gotta continue this letter.. a low-budget movie awaits

and today
just like any other monthsarries, is a special day. i believe that falling in love is a human condition, without it, you're only living half of your life. and for the past... 1 year and 8 mos. (today!) i am inlove with him. and just him and no one else.
have to admit, it's a good feeling.. being in a world of lovers where you speak the language only 2 of you understand.. me guess that only the people who are inlove can understand this.
so yeah, Ryan Alfafara Salvador III, happy monthsarry to you too.. and sorry that i wasn't able to greet you on time like you always do. but i love you nonetheless. :P

On Janina San Miguel
With all the talk going on with what happened in the recent Bb. Pilipinas pageant, here's the host's (Paolo Bediones) take on the issue
I have received hundreds of texts, emails, and comments from people asking me my opinion on the recently concluded pageant. Here's my account of what happened and my view on the whole incident:
When I called Janina up to the front I warmed her up just like the rest of the candidates with a simple question to reveal more of their personality and hopefully remove any nervousness. I asked if she felt any pressure considering she had just recently won best in swimsuit and long gown - two major awards, to which she replied without batting an eyelash that she felt no pressure at the moment to which I quipped sincerely "Confident! Please choose a name of a judge!" the whole time thinking to myself we have a winner here. Then it began...
No need transcribing it here since Youtube has over 300,000 hits by now of that fateful incident that will forever etch Janina's name in pageant history. The poor kid was lost in her thoughts amidst the thousands upon thousands of people at the Araneta.
Was she deserving of the crown? Based on the criteria for judging and the process the SGV implemented the answer to that question is an emphatic yes. Beauty of face and figure comprised a total of 80% and remember she won both the long gown and swimsuit competition which leaves us with 20% to be divided evenly between personality and intelligence. Yes for this pageant 10% for intelligence was all that was allotted. So in other words no matter how badly she may have performed in the q and a, she couldnt have lost much considering she had a huge headstart in the scores. There was no back to zero, tabula rasa, clean slate either for any of the candidates in the top ten - it was a total carry over of scores. And in the final deliberation the candidates that ranked 5th and 4th go the 2nd and 1st runner up respectively. Candidate no. 8, an early favorite adorned with many special awards ranked 4th only .4 points behind the no.3 spot so close yet so far away from any of the titles.
So here's the PhP 65,786,981.91 question: What now for Janina? The candidate who gained notoriety by simply being herself, the candidate who was able to eclipse national issues by uttering a few gramatically incorrect phrases and sentences and the candidate who took home one of the coveted crowns? While many ridicule her and brand her undeserving I have but one thing to say: I admire her.
I admire her for not buckling under the pressure and simply giving up and handing me the microphone to go back to her position at the back with the rest of the semifinalists. I admire her for being as blatantly honest as possible. She wasnt pretending to be anything. Standing beside her on stage I could feel the sincerity she had to come up with a satisfactory answer despite the handicap she had in communicating effectively in english.
Did I feel sorry for her? Yes I did....Do I feel sorry for her now? NO...and I'll tell you why...I am so excited to see how God will pull her out of this.
Here is this 17 year old who had simple dreams of being a pageant contestant. At the tender age of 17 she is now experiencing so much persecution, judgment and oppression that adults many years her senior would have difficulty facing. It's so easy for us to say "we would have done better given the chance" but do we know for sure? Do we know what it feels like to be in front of thousands, watched by millions worldwide probably with the pressure knowing if we do well it could be the answer to lift our family out of its current economic state? Do we know what it feels like to be booed endlessly way after the pageant is over and the crown has been given? Do we know what it feels like to be talked about not just behind our backs but right in front of us as people pass judgment left and right with a little snicker or two attached to it? At 17 Janina now knows the truth...life can be cruel...but here's the good news for Janina: No matter how cruel life turns out to be at the moment
GOD IS GOOD PERIOD. One of my favorite verses can sum up what Janina has in store for hr in the very near future:
Rom 8:28
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose"
Notice it says in ALL things. Not just in the positive or good or encouraging but in ALL things- the good the bad and the ugly. God has this unbelievable way of turning a losing proposition into a winning opportunity. God can turn what seems to be our darkest day when we can't see any hope anymore into the brightest moment in our lives when He reveals how great He truly is. It's when we believe and trust in God that he does unbelievable things in our lives.
So Janina keep the faith and keep loving God and he will show you how good, pleasing and perfect His will is for you. One day I see you being an inspiration to those who have been measured and weighed yet come short in the eyes of man yet will be living proof
that in the eyes of GOD none of us come short and we are all favored because of His saving Grace. Train hard for the pageant, work on your skills and enhance your talents. I wish you luck on your journey. One day you will make God even more proud. Mabuhay ka Janina San Miguel.

overwhelmed
I haven't been online for almost three days just because. I graduated this morning (f*c*i** finally) and celebrated lunch at Bigby's Cebu SM with my rents and friends, my boyfriend wasn't able to attend my grad cause ours ends at 12 and theirs would start 30 mins. after, so yeah, it was pathetic and kinda sad. I have a ./pif gift for him and it's a nailcutter since i noticed that he always asks me if i could bring mine the next time we see each other. my intention was to be funny and not to be discriminating. i'm gonna see my darling for dinner later at casino espanol and maybe we'll party the night away at loft or just chill at sbux or wherever.
so i have a lousy sense of humor
i checked my email a few mins. ago and i am semi-flattered that 2 jobs are being offered to me, one is to be one of the editors at OrionMedia and the other is to be a part of the plantation bay crew, although the OrionMedia's over is above average (15.2k-27.5k), i'm leaning more to the Plantation's offer even though i think their pay is going to be semi-crappy, but i'm after the benefits. one of their benefits is that you can have your friends stay overnight for free there plus one free meal. ain't that a lot of love??????????? and i don't even have to worry about transportation anymore since they have a shuttle which stops at fuente for employee pick-ups. and yes, it's free of charge.
Sides, i need at least 2gb worth of ram for my comp if i wanna pursue OrionMedia. so right now i'm calculating my expenses and thinking if i could somehow break even if i do buy one.

Holy Week at Bantayan- by request
the title is actually very misleading.
i'm not gonna spend my holy week at bantayan like any other people. which is actually by choice. given the chance, i'm sure my mom would concede since i just graduated and my rents have this notion that i can do anything i want with my life as long as i;m finished with school
but i just don't wanna go. not to be an anti-social or whatever (i'm actually not) but i'm sure as hell that other people would wanna jump at the chance to go there with their rents not caring one way or another.
holy week at bantayan is a waste of money (i'd rather spend my money on applying for jobs, which i will, rather than spend it on food there or whatever accomodations they might have no matter how cheap it is, i know i can spend my weekend there spending no more than 2k). and it's also a waste of time (which, i can spend by applying online on different jobs, different meaning i still dont know what to do with my life).
so yeah, i'd rather stay at home harassing my laptop and my nintendo ds rather than spend it somewhere where every one is.
i'm no groupie.

on Gretchen Barreto
you either have to live on a cave or just a plain igno if you don't know here (unless you're not a filipino). Gretchen Barreto is the epitome of beauty and elegance here in the Philippines. and yes, it's self-proclaimed (we are all entitled to our own opinions, and my blog is all about mine). although some people say that she had major operations to enhance whatever she needs to, i dont care cause i find her beautiful. on issues regarding her right now, i admire her for being honest. it's a known fact that she can be tactless but she is living her life right now the way she wants it to be and it's such a pity that she's also a mistress.
setting aside my admiration, seriously, she has a bad voice. lol. i mean ,come on, you can be a good actress, i know you got expensive clothes and you have kick-ass stilletos, but a girl has to have limits. jesus, you just got yourself an album that would prolly sell thousands not cause you have a good voice, but cause they wanna see what's inside.
either way, you win..and i hate you already. lol

what's the rush?
When I was younger, I wanted to do things done by my teenagers like my older cousins and schoolmates. I wore clothes and shoes suited for grown-ups, particularly high-heeled sandals. I wanted to go to the mall and watch movies with my friends. I even tried to go shopping alone. But i can only do stuff like that when my parents are too tired to tell me off for rushing to grow up. They always tell me to enjoy my early years because when I grow up to be a teenager, I will not be able to enjoy the things only a child could do—playing with toys with new friends, being carefree, and doing anything I want without a thought about what's happening to the world. I did not believe them, of course, since I was too determined to be a teenager already so that I can lead my own life and decide for myself. My outlook was like that until I began my secondary education.
My perception changed when I came out of elementary. I do not actually know why, maybe it's because of the new environment and new people. So from the day that I grasped the idea of what I really wanted to wear and do, I began changing myself into someone who wants to stay a kid. I realize that being a teenager means a while lot more—more schoolwork, more house chores and more obligations. I know right from wrong, so there is no excuse for my incorrect actions. My style has changed as well. I have not even worn my high-heeled sandals lately; I now prefer wearing flip-flops. And although I enjoy shopping on my own, I still want a grown-up to come with me to pay for what I want.
However, when I think of all the things that I still have to do as a graduating student, a daughter and a friend, I suddenly want to be a five-year old again. I do not rush growing up into someone older anymore. With all the problems and obligations of an adult in the world, why would I? I know that someday, I will be a full-time adult, too, but at least, not today.

hoi igno
i'm a lifestyle/marketing writer in one of Cebu's local newspapers, but honestly, i only know about 10% of this ZTE broadband scandal (10% meaning i only know names)
sweet jesus can i have a day without hearing this issue? it's really starting to annoy me (and a few people).
note: senators are actually making a big deal about this overpriced stuff THAT has already happened. hello, there is nothing we can do about it already because the money is stashed somewhere and you can never get your hands on it. so please, there are actually alot of ordinary people who need your help (poor, rich, uneducated, and the like) who don't care about this issue SO, in order for you guys to uh, climb your corporate ladder (haha) let go of this and help the people who actually voted for you guys (and who are gonna vote come next time blah blah)
why can't they just wait for 2010 (presidential election)? they are wasting our money and their time (which they can use to help "us"=politRicking).
